Good short game just one thing seems the spider doesn't go upstairs? Made the game pretty easy since i just went upstairs to out maneuver him , just wanted to see if this is normal if not might be a bug
is it normal that the spider is not moving in the beginning of the game because everytime I play a new game it’s just not moving until I get close and then he starts moving and i get a heart attack and I instantly die. Do I have to wait to go to there or is it an bug?
Yes the spider is intended to hide and wait at the beginning of the game. If you see the spider is hiding in that location, its best not to go near there and find another route. The point of the game is to not get close to the spider. The spider has two states when its not engaged with the player, hide and wait, or it can be patrolling. If its hiding and waiting, it will not move. It is not a bug.
I am not sure why you cannot without much information, are you by chance getting an error that 'too many people have viewed recently'? If not let me know so I can help out!

Gonna try running this using Lutris (which uses WINE / Proton) on Linux. I'll let you know if it works after I get off work tonight! EDIT: Works just fine; prompted to install C++ Redistributable, which succeeds, then game launches. Using GE-Proton 9-26 for the Wine version (in runner options).
Currently the game will automatically turn the flashlight on and off based on if you are in a safe area or not. I plan on changing this to give the player more control soon!

I have the folder downloaded, now how do I open it? I'm trying to run this on a standard Chromebook laptop, is that the problem? I tried to open it in drive as well as files, should I have another app I should download to get it open and able to play?
I am going to work hard to make the follow up to this run as best as it can on lower end computers, I'll admit this was not something I fully optimized and yeah it probably cant run. I am sorry about that and I hope the next release of this will be playable for you

Edit: now that ive looked a bit more at it i actually have the spider you based the model off of too, heteropoda venatoria, (the ones in my hands are holconia murrayensis, a calmer species from australia)
the one i was handling is the same as the one in the bottom picture is named J3z after an aussie youtuber because its australian, the heteropoda venatoria was unamed she was a mature female i bought wc and i was aware of how short their lives are at that stage in their life and didnt wanna get too attached
I understand the irational part of most peoples fear of spiders but huntsman in particular are so gentle to humans sure one that large actually would be scary but i have never ever been bitten and have been keeping dozens for 2 years now
They must live great lives with you! Thats really cool. And it does suck in a way because i know how awesome they really are, and i hate to paint them in a bad picture but its also a shared fear between so many that i knew it would make a perfect main antagonist. I hope J3z can forgive me!
eh its fine i expect em to be villianized its a bit of a shame but its expected. oh also the only real like innacuracy in behavior for em also is focusing on sound huntsman have speced primarily in eyesight and speed sure some vibration will trigger them but it is mostly eyesight they have very well developed eyes however that comes with downsides they tend to freeze at least briefly in intense light as they are nocturnal
I find this so fascinating. Unsurprisingly, I have a pretty awful fear of spiders, but I also love them. They're so cool and strange and interesting, and I've been working for years to grow out of my phobia by learning more about them and forcing myself to handle smaller, calmer species I find around the home. I would love to keep a huntsman if I could get past how much they freak me out.

i havent found many good videos on these admittedly its been a lot of learning from somewhat spotty info on arachnoboards; if i was to recomend one to start with i would suggest holconia murrayensis which is what J3z the one im handling is, easy care and comparatively slow while still being docile enough to handle regularly just keep em somewhat hot and you wean them off of humidity as they get older they do require mist to drink as babies but eventually its all from food, species selection depends on location tho i am in the usa and holconia are fairly new and somewhat pricey rn
so I figured out why i couldn’t do the add shortcut it was because I wasn’t signed into drive. So i added the shortcut to drive and it’s saved as a zip right now, how to I download it like that to where i can play it?

hey i was trying the workaround and was gonna click the shortcut to drive button but decided to click the download button at the top right instead of the one in the middle and it worked so that might help

Hey Kolt, so after doing some research, it seems that this is just something Google does and I have no real work around that I can find.
At this moment I have emailed Itch support to try and get the file size increased for the game so I can just have it downloaded straight from Itch instead. I seriously thank you for your interest in the game and I promise this will get taken care of ASAP.
After multiple attempts, I was able to get it to download but that is definitely really frustrating. If you want to keep attempting while I wait to hear back please feel free, if you want to wait until I get this fixed I totally understand!
As a lifelong arachnophobe AND horror game nerd, this game does something to me that I can't entirely explain. The way the spiders move, the sounds of their legs tapping around, and their behaviors just hit all of the "ick" buttons in my brain. It's so creepy that I'm willing to say that this is by far the most stressful experience I've ever had playing a horror game. Such a good game though and I'm super excited to see the full release! The current build definitely has some rough spots but the length and complexity of the game make up for it.

Most of the really noticeable issues were already mentioned in other comments (things like improving on AI/pathfinding or the spider being a bit too hard to evade at times) But some other things I noticed were things like the spider spotting me through walls and getting stuck on furniture. It doesn't happen too often but I get a little nervous when it does lol. And there was one moment where I was heading to the lab locked with the purple key and the spider just straight up teleported right in front of me in the hallway. It wasn't facing me, luckily. But it did feel like a "hey! that's not fair!" kind of moment for second.
Personally, I would also love a save system. But given how short the game is, I understand if it's not a priority right now and the fact that you don't lose progress on death is a saving grace for sure! Playing the game does feel like a bit of a commitment though.
I can't really think of any other "problems" than that. Again, kudos on such a fun and terrifying experience! Really looking forward for what's to come! Been telling all my friends about this game :)

Really good game even if it stressed me out lol , everything looked so crisp definitely had some well spent time put into this. As someone already stated this easily has potential for some Alien isolation level experience. If there was any i wished is i wish it was longer but with more guidance on what and where you're supposed to do and go. If this is ever getting more content I'd replay this immediately. All in all this is Phenomenal!
There are a few reasons for no multiplayer. The first being the game itself. I want this game to be a single player horror game, much like Resident Evil or Dead Space and multiplayer just doesn't fit well with that. Second is designing around multiplayer is very different than none, and the game is already designed around single player. It has the capability, but there are not many horror games that have multiplayer and typically thats because it doesn't benefit the game overall. Thanks!
Hey! Unfortunately the game was not developed for VR but I did see that same video as you and I am not sure how they got it to work for VR i've never tried that before. I will however begin working on looking into how to make this into a VR game as many have asked for it! Thanks!

What's supposed to happen is when it comes into your view and you get close enough the game gives you a message and ends. Pretty anticlimactic but I am working on a new ending. Great animation on the spider, and the idea of the game is spot on. My suggestion is to make the spider despawn after 30 seconds or so and respawn further away. I keep getting stuck in rooms because it won't leave. I'll hide, it will lose interest, and then it'll just hang out in front of the door forever. One of the times it did go away it kept glitching back and forth This seems to happen when I have everything I need.
Edit: Either that or give a weapon or deterrent to ward it off for a second.

You need a gaming computer. Chromebook will not play this, or any games.

Hey! I think you are talking about unzipping the folder from the download and if so, here are some instructions on it!
Windows:
Right-click the downloaded .zip folder.
Select "Extract All..."
Choose a destination and click "Extract."
Open the extracted folder and run the game.
If you are not talking about this I am sorry and let me know, but there shouldn't be any other time it asks you to extract anything. Thanks!
